Today’s report filed by Sr. Cathy Stare:
After our early departure from JFK, we landed first in Guatemala City, where we had a three hour stop and the first round of souvenir shopping was done. Coming off the plane in El Salvador, we were greeted by beautiful countryside and a warm welcome from Henry and other members of the CFCA staff. The ride from the airport to the CFCA Center in Santa Ana gave us a firsthand experience of El Salvadoran traffic. The trip normally takes an hour but took us twice as long. Arriving at the Center, supper and singing refreshed us after our long ride. Henry then spoke about our responsibility to look at and understand our world from the perspective of people in developing countries. We have come here to be with the Salvadoran people in their search for a more just share of the good things of our world. As the evening rain beat upon the roof, we brought the long day to a close, looking forward to our visit tomorrow to our sister parish in Esquipulas.
