The four and a half hour plane ride seemed for me, long enough to mentally prepare for what i was about to experience. With every person going through customs my anticipation grew not knowing exactly what was ahead of me. After we exited the San Salvidorian International Airport we were thrown into a sea of the native people as I was trying to gulp in as much of the culture as I could. From the airport the thirty of us boarded onto mini-buses and drove about two hours to Santa Ana which is where we will be residing for the duration of our stay in this simple but beautiful country. As we were driving along, I only saw a glimpse of he horrible poverty here in El Salvador. The glass windows though, seemed to shelter me and feel unaffected as we sped by. It was un-nerving to think about what tomorrow will bring with no such barrier but to experience them person to person, to just be people meeting for the first time, with a backdrop that seems so unusual to me but to them, a place where they call home. It is here that I hope to learn a lesson that I will never forget for the rest of my lifetime and hope to spread to anyone who will give the time to listen. And in these next few days I cannot wait to discover what this lesson actually is, and how it will change me and open my eyes to another view of this complex world that none of us truely have a grasp of.
