7:30 AM :: Breakfast

8:30 AM :: Departure for Community of Tacuba

The area of Tacuba is located about 1 hour

northwest of Santa Ana, very close to the border

of Guatemala and El Salvador.

Due to the location of this village, the families live

in very difficult conditions; CFCA is currently

sponsoring over 600 children in the area, which

is considered one of the poorest areas in

El Salvador. It is also important to mention the

beauty of Tacuba, surrounded by mountains and

coffee plantations.

Today’s Report, by Kristine Trujillo

Today the group visited the community of Tacuba, about an hour and a half away. When we arrived, we attended mass in the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. The whole community waited patiently for us to arrive before they started mass--even though we were 30 minutes late! After the mass the group attended activities with the community. We saw beautiful folkloric dances, and heard a wonderful musical group. We also heard testimonies from families sponsored through CFCA. Afterwards, our group was presented with gifts and received a lot of love from the whole community. After the activities with the community we visited the nearby school. We returned to the retreat center and had a wonderful dinner of pupusas! Lauren and Kristen led our meeting and helped us to reflect on our day.
